About the event

About the dream makers dinner

ALearn's annual fundraiser, the Dream Makers Dinner, welcomes 350 guests, who donate ~$400,000 to support low-income, underserved youth in ALearn's Math & College Readiness programs, which are at no cost to students.

We honor outstanding program participants - students, teachers, teaching assistants - and outstanding local philanthropists who support the education of low-income, underserved youth.

The 2016 Dream Makers Award honoree is Ned Barnholdt. Ned is the former Chairman, President & CEO of Agilent Technologies, current chairman of KLA-Tencor Corporation and serves on the boards of eBay, Adobe and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

The program

ALearn students greet and mingle with guests, then entertain them with a short performance. Awards are presented, followed by a 5-minute film, then Ron Gonzales, CEO of the Hispanic Foundation of Silicon Valley, will lead a fast-paced Fund-A-Need auction to raise money to support ALearn's programs, free to low-income, underserved students in our partner school districts.
